Ash Tree Removal Information


RESOLUTION NO. 16R-892     

A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE PARKWAY ASH TREE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE VILLAGE OF SHOREWOOD, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS


WHEREAS, the Village of Shorewood has recognized the infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer. Nearly 30 percent of Shorewood's trees are Ash, leaving the village particularly vulnerable to an Emerald Ash Borer attack; and

 WHEREAS, on Village property and right-of-ways measures against the Emerald Ash Borer were taken by treatment to Ash trees over six inches in diameter according to the 2011 tree inventory survey with a chemical injection, in hope of protecting them from the invasive Ash Borer insect; and

WHEREAS, the Village has development a multi-year program to replace all parkway Ash trees smaller than six inches in diameter according to the 2011 tree inventory survey; and

 WHEREAS, on March 25, 2014 the Village approved the multi-year removal of all Ash trees and replacement program and will continue to implement the program; and

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Shorewood, Will County, Illinois as follows:

 

SECTION 1:  PARKWAY ASH TREE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM 

That the multi-year program to remove all parkway Ash trees and replace Ash trees as stated above be and the same is hereby adopted. Ash trees on private property must be removed by the respective land owner before they become a safety hazard.

  SECTION 2:  SEVERABILITY    

This Resolution and every provision thereof, shall be considered severable.  In the event that any court of competent jurisdiction may find and declare any word, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph, provision or section or part of a phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph, provision or section of this Resolution is void or unconstitutional, the remaining words, phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and provisions and parts of phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs, provisions and sections are not ruled void or unconstitutional shall continue in full force and effect. 

SECTION 3:  REPEALER  

All resolutions or parts thereof which conflict with any term, condition, provision or section of this Resolution be and the same are hereby repealed.

  SECTION 4:  EFFECTIVE DATE 

This resolution shall be effective after its passage and approval as provided by law.
