Tax Levy
Located within Troy Township of Will County, IL the Village of Shorewood annually prepares a Tax Levy Ordinance which is presented by the Village Board at a public hearing held on the 2nd Tuesday of December prior to passage. Once passed the Tax Levy Ordinance, which sets the tax levy dollar amount, must be filed with the Will County Clerk's office prior to the last Tuesday in December of each year.
The Village's tax base is a mix of residential (81.8%), commerical (15.1%), industrial (3.0%), and farm property (0.1%) for the 2008 tax levy year. Over the last ten years, the Village's Equalized Assessed Valuation (EAV) has grown from $131,304,387 in 1999 to $545,137,836 in 2008.
While the Village's EAV has continued to rise, its tax rate has decreased from .5633 per $100 of assessed value in 1999 to .2480 per $100 of assesed value in 2009.
