The Village of Shorewood operates on an April 1 - March 31 fiscal year. The Budget is developed annually by the Village Administrator and staff and is approved by the Village Board. The Budget represents the Village's operating plan.

The appropriations ordinance serves as the Village's legal spending authority. An Appropriation Ordinance must be passed and approved during the first quarter of the fiscal year. No expenditure can be entered into unless the expenditure has been anticipated and provided for in the Appropriations Ordinance. A Public Hearing must be held prior to approval of the Appropriation Ordinance. This public hearing was held on June 9, 2020 prior to the Board Meeting.
