Building Department

The Building Department is responsible for ensuring public safety, health, and welfare as it relates to the built environment, as well as effective use of energy. This is accomplished through the adoption, administration, and enforcement of codes including the Municipal Code, Zoning Code, State Codes for Accessibility, Plumbing, Radon, and Energy Conservation, as well as the International Code Council (ICC) national codes for Residential and Commercial Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Fuel/Gas and Property Maintenance.

  • PERMIT APPLICATIONS and CONTRACTOR REGISTRATIONS can be submitted by US mail, email, in person or deposited in the drive-up Utility payment drop box behind the Village Hall. Include ALL supporting documents listed at the top of the application, as incomplete submittals cannot be accepted.
  • REVIEW TIME turnaround time is 7- 10 BUSINESS days for the first review. Subsequent reviews are typically done within 5-7 BUSINESS days.
  • PAYMENT is due upon approval. Staff will contact the applicant. The Village accepts cash, check, or credit cards. Payment can be made by US mail, in person, deposited in our drive-up Utility payment drop box, or by credit card (service fees apply). Payment by phone can be made during regular business hours. 
*A minimum 24–48-hour notice is required for Inspections. A minimum 72-hour notice is required for Final Occupancy.
