Village Board Approves Alternative Source Water Program
Valencia-Lynwood Water Main Replacement Project
Shorewood, IL, March 12, 2024: Our Village Board is committed to investing in and updating our aging water infrastructure! The water main along Valencia and Lynwood was constructed in the 1970s and has had numerous water main breaks throughout its lifetime. The old ductile iron pipe is in poor condition and needs replacement.
On February 13, 2024, the Village Board approved a ~$1.1 million contract with Holiday Sewer & Water Construction to construct the new water main along both Valencia and Lynwood to replace the 50+ year old pipe. The project includes the replacement of 2,200 feet of 6” ductile iron water main and upsize with 8” polyvinylchloride (PVC) pipe, new fire hydrants, road and curb patching, and other related work.
The work, which is weather-dependent, will begin in late March or early April with an aggressive completion by July 2024.
